Flotilla 10-04 Grassy Point, NY - Division 10 -1SR

  Staff

We welcome you to the web site of Flotilla 10-04 of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. We have a proud history of more than 50 years of service to the Coast Guard and the local boating community.

The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary was established by Congress in 1939 to assist the Coast Guard in promoting boating safety. It boasts more then 29,000 members from all walks of life who receive special training so that they may be a functional part of the Coast Guard Forces. Auxiliarists assist the Coast Guard in non-law enforcement programs such as public education, safety patrols, vessel safety checks, search and rescue, maritime security, and environmental protection. Auxiliarists volunteer more than 2 million hours annually to benefit other boaters and their families.

During our boating season, Flotilla 10-04 regularly patrols the area of the Hudson River from the Bear Mountain Bridge to the Tappan Zee Bridge continuing all the way down to the George Washington Bridge. We provide free vessel safety checks at local marinas. We also offer boating classes to the public in Rockland, Orange and Bergen counties. Course offerings include Boating Safety, Navigation, Sailing, etc.

Be sure to visit our web pages dedicated to vessel safety checks and public education.

For auxiliary members, we provide advanced training in topics such as seamanship, navigation, communications, weather, boat crew, coxswain, etc. This training helps provide the skills necessary to serve and enjoy the fellowship of the Auxiliary.

Our monthly meetings are held at Minisceongo Yacht Club in Grassy Point, New York at 8:00 PM on the third Thursday of every month, except for the month of January. In place of our January monthly meeting, the installation and swearing in of our officers takes place at our annual Change of Watch event. Please come join us at one of our meetings if you are interested in becoming a member of our Flotilla 10-04. We look forward to seeing you soon.
